Workshops and Masterclasses

We’ve partnered with teacher trainer Jess Davey of Go Slo Studio Pilates (Fremantle) and Slo Method Pilates Teacher Training to bring Canberra a series of workshops and masterclasses dedicated to unf*cking the advanced exercises in the Mat and Reformer repertoire. Who says nothing good happens in Canberra?

Meet Jessica Davey

DIRECTOR GO SLO STUDIO & SLO METHOD PILATES TEACHER TRAINING

It’s been over 13 years since I started teaching Pilates, doing my Diploma of Professional Pilates Instruction with PilatesITC. Since then, I’ve taken the opportunity to teach internationally, travelling to Europe, the USA, Asia and Australia to teach at and attend conferences and workshops.

Being a course Educator with PilatesITC and TMR Academy wasn't just a job. It sparked something massive. Teaching teachers showed me exactly what drives me.

Let's be real - I'm a total nerd about the Pilates method. Understanding what Joseph Pilates created, how it evolved, and why it works? That's my jam. I've studied with the best: Benjamin Degenhardt, Blossom Leilani-Crawford, Deborah Lessen, and more. Each one adding another layer to this incredible method.

Add my FRC Mobility Specialist certification into the mix, and now we're really talking about understanding how bodies can move and adapt.

All this knowledge and experience? It had to go somewhere. That's why Go Slo Studio opened in Fremantle (2020) and Slo Space launched in Bali (2024).

I took a hiatus from teaching teachers for a while. I needed to focus on the studios and took some space to regroup. There’s times in our lives when we think we have nothing left to offer and this was one of them. But here's the truth - that drive never went away.

Enter Slo Method Classical Pilates Teacher Training.

My goal is simple but huge: I want to inspire teachers to truly know themselves and teach from that place of knowing. No copying, no pretending. Just real teaching from real people.

Because here's what I know for sure: The magic happens when we stop trying to be anyone else.

Pilates is awesome. It's powerful. And when we teach from a place of our genuine self, it's transformative - for both our clients and ourselves.

Masterclasses - Open to all

Unf*ck the Advanced Mat Exercises Masterclass - 3pm Saturday 18 April
Max 8 Participants - $80

(for people who do Pilates and occasionally wonder what the hell just happened)

Let’s be real.

Some of the advanced exercises can feel… chaotic. One minute you’re fine, the next you’re tangled, rolling sideways, or questioning your life choices.

This session is about making sense of that.

No pressure to be “advanced.” No expectation that your body should magically cooperate. Just a practical deep dive into a handful of classical Pilates exercises that often feel confusing, unstable, or wildly inconsistent.

Unf*ck the Advanced Reformer Exercises Masterclass - 12.30pm Sunday 19 April
Max 8 Participants - $80

(for people who enjoy Pilates but occasionally feel personally attacked by the springs)

Let’s not sugarcoat it.

The advanced Reformer repertoire can feel like chaos with moving parts. A bit strength, a bit coordination, and a suspicious amount of blind faith.

One minute you’re cruising. The next the carriage is flying, your limbs are everywhere, and you’re wondering if you’ve completely missed something fundamental.

This session is about making sense of that madness.

Not chasing perfection. Not “nailing” advanced work. But understanding why these movements are challenging and what your body actually needs to make them work.

No performance pressure. No pretending. The Reformer has a way of exposing that immediately.

Movement for hEDS, POTS and MCAS - When everything we learned stops working -
4.30pm Saturday 18 April - $200

EDS, HSD, POTS and MCAS often show up together.

And when they do, a lot of what we learned in our training stops being useful.

The cueing doesn't land. The pacing doesn't work. The client keeps flaring and we're not sure why.

Sound familiar?

This workshop is part theory, part movement, part conversation. I'll share some of my own story too. Because I'm not just teaching this. I’m living it.

What We'll Cover

● What's actually going on in these bodies (and why they so often travel together)

● Why proprioception can be so tricky, and two different strategies to work with it

● Pacing and intensity that actually helps (instead of triggering a flare two days later)

● Cueing for bodies that don't always know where they are in space

● Working with clients who know their bodies better than any textbook does

Who This Is For

● Pilates teachers and personal trainers who want to work more confidently with complex clients

● Allied health professionals looking to understand movement considerations for these conditions

● People living with EDS, HSD, POTS or MCAS who want to learn more about their own bodies

This workshop is taught by someone with lived experience of these conditions, not just textbook knowledge.

You'll leave with practical stuff you can use. And hopefully a few things that shift how you think.

Unf*ck the Advanced Mat Exercises Workshop - 12.30pm Saturday 18 April
$200 | $380 for both workshops

For Pilates Instructors

Educational workshop for Pilates Instructors - book both mat and reformer for a discounted rate.

Let's be honest. The advanced Matwork can feel like a hot mess. Especially when you have no clue what’s going on.

You know the exercises I'm talking about. The ones that make you feel like you missed the memo somewhere.

This workshop is about figuring out why these exercises fall apart and what to actually do about it.

No perfectionism. No pretending your body should just "get it."

What We'll Dig Into

Control Balance. Push Up. Backbends. Swan Dive.

The classics that tend to go sideways.

For each one we'll look at:

● What does this exercise actually need from your body?

● Where do most people compensate, and why?

● What's missing in how we've been building up to it?

Where Do These Exercises Go?

Crab. Jack-knife. Leg Pull Front.

These exercises exist for a reason, but where do they actually lead? We'll look at what they're building towards and how to use them as genuine preparation rather than just ticking boxes.

What You'll Walk Away With

A different way of thinking about the Advanced work. Tools for any exercise that's not clicking. And maybe a bit more confidence that you're not actually broken.

Unf*ck the Advanced Reformer Exercises Workshop - 10am Sunday 19 April
$200 | $380 for both workshops

Educational Workshop for Pilates Instructors - book both mat and reformer for a discounted rate.

The Advanced Reformer work can feel like chaos with springs.

It's a little bit gymnastics, a little bit strength and a lot blind trust. That's when things get properly wild.

You know the exercises I'm talking about. The ones where you're not sure if you're doing it wrong or if everyone else is just pretending.

This workshop is about understanding why these exercises go off the rails and what to actually do about it.

No perfectionism. No faking it. Purely because you can’t.

What We'll Dig Into

Breaststroke. Control Balance Off. Snake and Twist.

The ones that humble us all.

For each one we'll look at:

● What does this exercise actually require from your body?

● Where does it usually fall apart, and why?

● What's been missing in the lead up?

Where Do These Exercises Go?

Tendon Stretch. Horseback. Teasers.

We all know these exercises, but what are they actually preparing us for? We'll look at where they're heading and how to use them as real groundwork rather than just going through the motions.

What You'll Walk Away With

A fresh way of looking at the advanced repertoire. A framework for troubleshooting anything that's not working. And permission to stop blaming yourself.
